"I see doom in your future. Doom! DOOOOM!!!” That’s Lupe’s go-to line. A fortune-telling grifter, she’s been reading tea leaves and crystal balls for the last few seasons at the carnival. The words on their own might not seem all that imposing, but Lupe does have a cunning flair for the dramatic. And for picking a mooch out of a crowd. Inside her dimly lit tent, draped with velvet and candles, she could tell the rubes nearly anything and they’d believe her.

One evening, Lupe notices Charlie passing by and quickly offers to read his fortune. With her usual flair, she gives Charlie a glimpse into his future, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “I see amazing things for you,” she whispers. “But first, there is caution. Beware of someone offering you a funnel cake with juicy red strawberries, whipped cream, and strawberry glaze. Do not eat it. It will bring DOOOOM!!!” Charlie, unsuspecting, listens intently. Lupe knows Ana, the owner of the funnel cake stand, is planning to give Charlie her famous funnel cake for his birthday to reel him in with her sweet treats. She plans to eliminate the competition with her ominous warning to Charlie.
